Facebook Campaign


Background:

My page will focus on promoting the articles I have written as a Dixie Sun News journalist. Here I have already uploaded my first article I've written since spring semester started. I also am constantly tweeting about current events, and linking articles that have been uploaded to the Dixie Sun News. I really want to get my name out there as an aspiring writer so I don't go unnoticed among millions of others attempting to do the same.

Media Personas:

Jessica Walker, 19, St. George

Jessica just transferred to Dixie State University and wants to stay updated on the local news, specifically pertaining to school events and gatherings. She really wants to be involved in her community but also get the college experience.

Debbie Chapman, 45, St. George

St. George resident Debbie Chapman has quite an interest in her town's current events. She also likes to stay involved in her local university's news because she is a Dixie State alumna.

Josh Patterson, 33, Salt Lake City

Josh is in charge of gathering new interns for the local newspaper, Salt Lake Tribune. The newspaper's numbers are at an all time low, and he wants to hire aspiring college writers who can bring new perspectives and ideas. He feels the newspaper is disconnected from the modern times and wants to bring that back with higher ratings than ever seen before.

Reaching an audience:

So far, I have gained 11 followers since creating this page a few days ago. I think the first step is reaching out to friends and family because their number of friends combined can really reach an array of people. Just from a few shares, my very first article has already reached over 100 people. In order to gain a larger audience, I want to promote my Facebook page across all of my social media accounts. I plan to place the link to this page in my bio for Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.
I think interacting with my audience is also a must. Mentioning someone's name or being able to relate to a comment by linking my story can really get my page noticed.  Another feature I need to address is networking.

I plan to upload two articles a week, and also share posts alluding to what my articles will be about hours before.
